Mycelium & Microaggressions (2020)

Mycelium & Microaggressions

September 2020 - December 2020

In this proposal, consisting of five public amenities (a toilet, wash basin, viewing platform, swing and seating nook), we will be encountering our own bodies as a physical and psychological experience of microaggressions and micro-cuddles. It is a series of surrealist spaces that explore various body postures causing these conditions, with moments reminiscent of the act of religious confession. Inspired by Panpsychism, the building is made out of constantly growing mycelium that will change over time. Over the 95 years, it will work with (micro-cuddle) and against (microaggression) the tree by encouraging certain parts to flourish and others to be suffocated, whilst slowly infiltrating and rendering the spaces within useless.
